I have high aspirations and BIG plans to tear away from the social networking this summer and dive into the library of books that await me on the shelf unread. I have so many books that I have not read and know the Lord is prompting me to read them. Being a teacher and having the summer off provides lots of opportunity for summer reading to take place.
I just recently finshed this book: Reordering Your Day: understanding and embracing the four prayer watches by Chuck D. Pierce. This book is a great teaching tool regarding the 4 prayer watches which are: Evening 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Midnight 9:00 pm to 12:00 am, Breaking of Day (Cockcrowing 12:00 am to 3:00 am) and Morning 3:00 to 6:00 am. It discusses what takes place during these hours in the spiritual and Chuck shares experiences of leaders, prayer warriors, ministires that have engaged in prayer watches. He also provides prayers and scripture to read during certain hours of the night different things to declare and pray about/for. As good and richly written books about prayer and prayer movements, I wanted to stop reading and start praying. If you know you are called to prayer and have not read this book, I suggest adding it to your list (summer reading perhaps?)
I am currently reading : When Heaven Envades Earth by Bill Johnson (just started) I also ordered some more of his books on Amazon a few weeks ago.
David (my husband) and I went to Lifeway last night and I was drawn to this book: Chasing Elephants: Wrestling with the Gray areas of your life. It deals with issues such as homosexuality, social drinking, social networking, etc which a different approach that you might expect. Overall the book (from what I read on the synopsis and reviews: presents some “grayer areas” in the Christian life and then presents a set of questions to ask ourselves, as well as history and scripture to examine if these things are right/wrong. I am looking foward to reading this soon.
I also bought the quotes of Billy Graham which happened to be on sale and I am looking forward to reading this book as well
So now if any of you readers out there have any suggestions about good Christian books you have read so far, please leave them in the comments section below.
